Preschool – Grade 5 Parents:
Please sign up for a 15 minute time slot for each of your children in Preschool - Grade 5. This is a time for you and your child to meet with the teacher and go over expectations for the school year along with dropping off school supplies.- Login to your PowerSchool parent site: https://xcs.powerschool.com/public/home.html

Middle School Parents (Grades 6, 7, 8):
Middle School meet the teacher sessions will begin at 8:00am, 12:00pm, and 2:00pm. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early. Middle school students and their parents/guardians will attend three 10min sessions in the middle school classrooms. Sessions will be led by the middle school staff and sessions provide important middle school information.
A reminder that Middle School parents do not need to sign up. You just need to come at 8:00, 12:00 or 2:00.
After attending three sessions, students will receive their locker numbers and can set up their lockers and drop off school supplies. Middle School staff members will also be available for questions at that time.

Picnic-For those who RSVP'd
We look forward to you joining us on Thursday, August 14 starting at 5:30 in the open green space on the west side of the building. You can park in the lot and walk around the building to the green space to find us! If you are a brand new family to us this year, we will have a short presentation in the gym starting at 5:00pm. All you need to bring is lawn chairs and/or a blanket to sit and eat on. If it rains we will move it inside the school.
K-8 Drop Off and Pick Up
With construction to the church and parking lot, we don't have an exact route for this yet. A video and map will be coming as soon as that part of the project is complete or near completion.
Preschool Drop Off
Families will park on 14th street and walk their child to the doors on the south side of the building. (Those facing the small playground with the fence around it)
Dress Code
Please take a look at the updated K-8 dress code below. (Please include the XCS graphic you made) As mentioned in the graphic, our 24-25 dress code will be grandfathered in. The one major part of the new XCS dress code that St. Joseph will be implementing for the 25-26 school year will be that hooded sweatshirts will NOT be allowed to be worn M-Th as part of the normal school dress code. They will be allowed on Fridays as part of weekly spirit days. Opportunities for ordering spiritwear will be available before school starts.

Lunch Program Information
All Xavier Catholic Schools will be using the Meal Magic program for the 2025-26 school year. Parents will be able to log into their family account, view balances, add money, and apply for free/reduced lunches. More information will be coming soon about how to access accounts. If preferred, checks may be dropped off at the school for lunch accounts (please allow a few days to be deposited into lunch accounts), as well as paper free/reduced applications, which are right here.Food prices are listed here.
Lunch Payments can be made electronically through Meal Magic. More information is coming from XCS soon. Payments made to Xavier Catholic Schools MUST be on a separate check.

Parent Email Notifications
Parent email addresses used for school email communication to parents are pulled from the Contact section of PowerSchool. It is important that only your primary email is entered in your parent information during PowerSchool Registration as this is the email that we will use for this communication. Please email Peggy Brady at [email protected] if another family member (in addition to father and mother) would like to receive this communication. We are continually working to streamline our communications to make them as applicable to as many of our families as possible, but appreciate your understanding in knowing that not every email may apply directly to you.School Messenger – Instant Parent Contact
This year, our school will be using School Messenger, a system that syncs with PowerSchool to enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by text within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event which warrants parent notification. School Messenger is a company that specializes in school-to-parent communications. Our school (listed as our XCS system: “Cedar Rapids/Marion Xavier Catholic Schools”) will continue to report school closings due to snow or weather on the local radio, TV stations and social media and will use this system in addition to public announcements.School Website
